Susan Aglionby has been farming in Cumbria for 33 years and built up her farm from a 19 acre small holding to over 200 acres. Susan's passion is sharing skills and
knowledge about the production of sustainable and delicious meat from traditional breeds with young people, adults and community groups. Her dynamism and energy has been an inspiration to many
and in 2014 she was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the University of Cumbria and in 2017 an OBE and the Blamire Medal for Contribution to Agriculture in Cumberland.
In 2009, Susan gave 35 acres of the land at Houghton to the Cumbria Wildlife Trust and in 2015, transferred the farming business to Susan's Farm, a community interest company to allow her work to develop and continue into the
future. In 2019, the CIC converted to become a registered Company (CIO).
